Crypheat is a read-only publication. There are no accounts, no logins, and we do not ask you for personal information. This page explains the limited data that is nonetheless processed when you visit.
We do not operate user accounts and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment details, because there is nothing on this site to sign up for or buy.
Like any website, our infrastructure processes technical information automatically when you request a page: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time of the request. This is used to serve the site, protect it from abuse, and understand aggregate traffic.
We use a web analytics service to understand aggregate usage — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and whether the site performs well. Analytics data is examined in aggregate; we do not use it to identify individual visitors. Analytics providers set cookies or similar identifiers to distinguish repeat visits.
Cookies and similar storage are used for two purposes: analytics as described above, and remembering your display preference (such as dark mode) in your own browser. Your display preference is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site remains readable without them.
The site carries advertising and affiliate links. Advertising and affiliate partners may set their own cookies or identifiers to measure clicks and conversions, subject to their own privacy policies, which we do not control. If you follow an affiliate link to an exchange or other service, that service collects any information you then give it under its own policy, not ours.
Pages are delivered through a content delivery network, fonts are loaded from a third-party font service, and market data is retrieved by us from data providers (see About). Data providers are queried by our servers, not by your browser, so they do not receive your IP address.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal data relating to you, or to object to it. Because we do not hold accounts, in most cases we hold no information that identifies you. If you believe we do and you wish to exercise a right, contact us via the About page and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Technical logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operational purposes. Aggregate analytics may be retained longer, as it does not identify individuals.
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
